3 Updating the system

Afterwards we have to look out updates and install the latest. For this run the  Update Manager to proceed in saying so: System> Administration> Update Manager
The Update Manager tells you what updates are available to update the list you can click the Check button go. Click on Install Updates to install updates to:

Enter your password:
It may take a few minutes until the updates are downloaded and updated:
If the updates are complete, click on Close . A new kernel downloaded, you will need to restart the computer to apply the changes. Should this be the case, see a Restart Nowbutton. Click on it to start the system in order.
The system is now on the  most currently standard

4 Flash Player and Java

If the box you install this third-party software installation had clicked the while, should the Flash Player and Java are already installed.
To verify this to open Firefox and type: about: plugins into the address bar of your browser. Firefox will then list all installed plug-ins, and it should also list the Flash Player to version 10.1 of the R85 ...

Now we look at the menu bar to see to what are the necessary applications already available:
The following should appear: a  [x] marks the application has already been installed, while the empty box [] indicates that the application is still missing:

There are so few Anwednungen already on the system, but not all. The read / write-support for NTFS in Ubuntu 10.10 is enabled by default.

Good info. I'm been using Ubuntu for several years now and I'm happy with it. Haven't tried the new 11.04 yet though.

Thanks for the info. My new laptop broke so I'm using an old one now (Vista still :/) and didn't see the point of getting Ubuntu on this one.
